Eduardo Rodriguez LESS THAN 16.5 Pitching Outs
Rodriguez has struggled to hit this mark lately, going under this line in five of his last six outings. He’s only eclipsed 81 pitches once during that span and hasn’t topped that number in any of his last four starts. Now he faces a tough challenge in a Blue Jays lineup that ranks among the top three in batting average against right-handed pitching. Given the matchup and his recent workload, it’s hard to see Rodriguez lasting beyond five innings in this one.
Framber Valdez MORE THAN 6.5 Strikeouts
Valdez has been on an absolute tear since the start of May, clearing this number in six of his last seven starts while racking up an impressive 8.4 strikeouts per outing during that stretch. His 26.7% strikeout rate on the season showcases just how dominant he’s been on the mound. Now he faces an Oakland lineup that struggles mightily against left-handed pitching, striking out at a 24.7% clip. This is a fantastic matchup for Framber, and I love his chances to keep the strikeouts rolling in this spot.
