Kris Bubic MORE THAN 4.5 Strikeouts
Kris Bubic has been quietly effective on the mound this season, going over this strikeout line in five of his six starts while averaging an impressive 6.17 punchouts per outing. He gets a prime matchup today against a Baltimore lineup that has struggled mightily against left-handed pitching, ranking in the bottom three in the league with a 27% strikeout rate. Bubic himself boasts a solid 24.7% strikeout rate, and given the swing-and-miss tendencies of this Orioles team, this sets up as a great spot for him to rack up Ks. I love backing the over on Bubic in this favorable spot.
Bradley Blalock MORE THAN 1.5 Strikeouts (Goblin)
Austin Blalock is set to make his second start of the season on Saturday, stepping in for the injured Ryan Feltner. In his first outing earlier this week, Blalock impressed with 7 strikeouts against a solid Reds lineup, showing off the swing-and-miss stuff that made him intriguing in both the minors and majors last season, where he averaged 8 strikeouts per 9 innings. While he draws a tougher matchup this time around against the Giants, this line is simply too low for a pitcher with his strikeout upside. This Goblin has strong potential and is a value play worth grabbing.
