Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson was the clear-cut QB1 in fantasy football for 2024, finishing well ahead of the pack with an impressive average of 25.4 fantasy points per game. He led the NFL in yards per passing attempt and dominated on the ground, racking up over 900 rushing yards—the most of any quarterback. Jackson also delivered through the air, tossing a touchdown on an outstanding 8.6% of his pass attempts. While some regression in his rushing production is likely, his growth as a passer continues to trend upward. I’m not certain he’ll finish as the overall QB1 again, but if you’re looking to grab an elite quarterback early, Jackson stands out as one of the safest and most well-rounded options on the board.
Mid Tier
Baker Mayfield – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
If you’re planning to wait a bit before drafting a quarterback, Baker Mayfield is an excellent mid-round target. Currently going off the board as QB7 in the seventh round, Mayfield offers tremendous value. He quietly put together an outstanding 2024 season, finishing as the QB4 overall—just 0.2 fantasy points shy of QB2 Josh Allen. Statistically, he ranked top 3 in completions, completion percentage, passing yards, and touchdowns. Even better, he returns to a stable offensive core in Tampa Bay and now has two exciting rookie additions at wide receiver: Tez Johnson and Emeka Egbuka. I love the direction this Bucs offense is heading, and in a best ball format, Mayfield brings the kind of high-ceiling weeks that can win you matchups without having to pay the premium draft price.

Sleepers
JJ McCarthy – Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings showed strong confidence in J.J. McCarthy by allowing Sam Darnold—who delivered a top-10 fantasy season in Minnesota—to walk in free agency and sign with the Seahawks. Now entering his second year, McCarthy steps into an ideal situation with a well-structured system and some of the league’s most explosive offensive weapons at his disposal. Despite the upside, he’s currently being drafted as the QB17 around pick 120, typically near the end of the 10th round. If you’re able to pair him with one or more of his playmakers in a stack, McCarthy has the potential to deliver massive spike weeks that can be game-changers in best ball formats.
