Jack Kochanowicz LESS THAN 16.5 Pitching Outs

Kochanowicz has struggled to work deep into games lately, failing to record more than 16 outs in each of his last five outings and staying under 90 pitches in all of them. His underlying metrics aren’t encouraging either — he ranks in the bottom 20% of pitchers in expected batting average (xBA) and holds a modest 16.5% strikeout rate on the season. While he draws a matchup against a middling Nationals lineup, Washington has been a disciplined team at the plate with a low strikeout rate. Given the combination of limited efficiency and a patient opponent, it’s tough to see Kochanowicz lasting beyond five innings in this spot.

German Marquez MORE THAN 5.5 Hits Allowed

Marquez has consistently struggled to limit contact, allowing 6 or more hits in 12 of his last 14 starts. His underlying metrics reflect those struggles as well — he ranks in the bottom 5% of the league in expected batting average with a .295 xBA. He now faces a red-hot Brewers lineup that has been seeing the ball well, ranking 7th in the majors with a .260 batting average against right-handed pitching over the last 30 days. With his recent form and a tough matchup on deck, this looks like another difficult outing ahead for Marquez.
