Alcantara has struggled to find his rhythm this season, posting a .265 expected batting average and allowing an average of 5.3 hits per outing over his last 10 starts. Now he draws an even tougher challenge against a red-hot Phillies lineup that’s seen him plenty—216 career at-bats, to be exact—and they’ve teed off for a .310 batting average in those matchups. With Philly’s bats locked in and their familiarity with Alcantara, this looks like another uphill battle for the right-hander.
Jeremy Pena MORE THAN 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Pena has been locked in at the plate, going over this line in 14 of his last 18 games while racking up an impressive average of 3.1 hits, runs, and RBIs per contest during that stretch. He gets a familiar and favorable matchup today against JP Sears, a pitcher he’s seen well in the past—posting a .304 batting average with a home run in 23 career at-bats. With his recent form and strong history against Sears, this is a fantastic spot to back Pena to keep rolling.
