Randy Vasquez LESS THAN 4.5 Strikeouts
Luis Vasquez has struggled to generate strikeouts this season, ranking in the 1st percentile with a strikeout rate of just 10.4% — one of the lowest in the league. He’s stayed under this line in all but one outing and is averaging just over 4 strikeouts per nine innings. While the Angels do have a tendency to strike out, this number still feels far too ambitious given Vasquez’s limited swing-and-miss ability. His profile simply doesn’t support a high strikeout total, regardless of the matchup.
Luis Castillo MORE THAN 3.5 Strikeouts (Goblin)
While Luis Castillo hasn’t had the strongest start to the season, he’s still managed to eclipse this strikeout line in five of his eight outings. He’s in a favorable spot today against a Yankees lineup that’s shown a tendency to strike out in bunches. Castillo has a solid track record against this group, having faced this roster 95 times in his career with an impressive 27.4% strikeout rate. Given the matchup and his upside, this sets up as a great opportunity for Castillo to deliver one of his better performances of the season.
