While Miles Mikolas has managed to go over this number just twice all season, the underlying metrics suggest he’s been more lucky than good. He owns a mere 13% whiff rate — placing him in the bottom 1% of all pitchers — and his 4.24 FIP points to some serious regression potential. On top of that, he’s allowing a hard-hit rate of 41.7%, which is never a good sign. He’ll be facing a dangerous Reds lineup today that ranks second in the league in BABIP against right-handed pitching, and they’re in a prime spot to take advantage of Mikolas’ contact-heavy profile. This could get ugly.
Elias Diaz LESS THAN 0.5 Total Bases
Elias Díaz has been ice cold at the plate lately, recording just one hit over his last 10 games — a clear indication that he’s in the middle of a serious slump. He’ll have his hands full today against Logan Webb, a pitcher who has given him fits in the past. In 22 career at-bats against Webb, Díaz has managed just a single hit and has struck out five times, showing little ability to get anything going. With both his recent form and historical struggles against Webb, this looks like a strong spot to back the under.
